Ricky R. Heim

Ricky Ross Heim was born September 23, 1949 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Harold and Nola (Westbrook) Heim. He grew up in Canton, Kansas and was a graduate of Canton High School with the class of 1967 and Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Canton and attended the Canton Christian Church. He had been a resident of McPherson his entire adult life.For many years his working career was spent as a laborer for CertainTeed Corp. in McPherson. He was a past owner of H & R Block, worked for Yoder Ford, Continental Trailways and was a carrier for the McPherson Sentinel. He was currently an employee of Wal-Mart, also in McPherson.Ricky was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially to Denver to watch his Braves and the Rockies play. Gardening was a pleasurable hobby and he was big into recycling. Ricky didn’t know a stranger and visiting with family and friends was of high priority. He had a smile for everyone he met and was a truly kind, genuine man. Most of all, Ricky loved his family, especially the grandchildren. Recently he was honored with a celebration for his 69th birthday, which was considered one of the highlight’s of his life. He had an immeasurable love for Sandy, who he had the pleasure of spending the last 28 years of his life with and his daughters, Valencia, Dawn and Athena were near and dear in his heart.He entered into eternal rest at his home in McPherson on Wednesday morning, September 26, 2018 with his family by his side.Survivors include his significant other, Sandra Heim; his three daughters, Valencia Heim, Wichita, Dawn and Christopher Eagle and their children Christian, Alexander, Mathew and Nevaeh and Athena Heim and her children, Zachariah, Khloe and Laila, all of McPherson; his brothers, Daryl (Janice) Heim, Everton, Missouri and Neil Heim, Canton; step-son Craig (Mallory) Heim, Hutchinson, Kansas and children Kasey (Camey), Kalin, Colby and Rhiannon; step-daughter, Andrea “Annie” (Charlie) Scott, McPherson and children Tyler, Jacob and Nicole “Nikki” and step-son Brandon (Jennifer) Heim, Galva and children Kyler and Ashtyn and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Keith and Steve Heim, sisters Karen and Sue Ann Heim and a granddaughter, Michaela Eagle. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Canton Christian Church. Interment will be in the Canton Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, September 30 at Olson's Mortuary, Canton. A memorial has been established with the Cancer Center of Kansas, in care of the mortuary.
