Lenette Bolnick

Lenette Bolnick – born in McPherson, KS and resided in St. Louis, MO – passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2023, at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband Mike to whom she was married for 56 years; two children, Doug (and his wife Molly) of O’Fallon, MO, and Deborah of Dallas TX; three grandchildren – Lilly and Max Rollins and Ben Bolnick; sister, Barbara VonFeldt (and her husband David) of Topeka, KS; niece, Jennifer Bennett (and her husband Klint and son Henry) of Kansas City, MO; nephew Brian VonFeldt (and his wife Christina and sons Colin and Aidan) of Olathe, KS; and countless friends. Lenette was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Doris Eaton of McPherson. Lenette loved her family, travel, cooking and helping others. She was a cheerleader for her kids and grandkids’ accomplishments and sporting events, a home chef known for having the best lasagna recipe in town, and a person who took pride in getting things done. Lenette graduated from McPherson High School in 1964 and attended Kansas State University, where she met Mike. Following their marriage, they lived in Germany for several years while stationed with the U.S. Army in the late 1960s and sparked a love for travel, which continued for the rest of their lives together. In addition to exploring Europe as newlyweds, the happy couple was introduced to cruising in the 1990s and visited almost every island in the Caribbean, as well as Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, New England and Europe with their family and friends. She also enjoyed quick getaway trips with her family around England, France, Italy, Ireland, Iceland and everywhere in the United States. One requirement for these trips was to attempt, celebrate or taste something new each time, which created forever memories and countless new food favorites. Lenette also enjoyed giving back to her community. She volunteered with Girl Scouts, the Daughters of the American Revolution (both locally in St. Louis and at the national level), the United Methodist Church, Life Seekers and other premature birth support organizations, school PTA, and her children’s sports clubs. A funeral service in her honor will be performed at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Glidden-Ediger- Wiggins Funeral Home, McPherson. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. A celebration of life memorial service will be announced and held later in St. Louis in December. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, your favorite local youth sports club or an animal welfare organization of your preference in care of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W Euclid, McPherson, KS 67460.
