Grace Lillian Chindberg

Grace Lillian Chinberg, age 100, died on May 28, 2015 at Dallas, Texas. Grace Lillian Anderson Chindberg, age 100, was born at home in Windom, Kansas on May 22, 1915 to Karl Arthur Amos Anderson and Minnie Augusta Johnson. Lillian was raised on the farm and attended the Andover Evangelical Lutheran Church. After graduating from Windom High School, Lillian moved to McPherson where she worked in the hospital kitchen. Later she worked for Dr. Graves as an Optometrist's assistant. She married Carl Weaver Chindberg in 1956. Weaver and Lillian had one child, Linda Ann Chindberg. Lillian loved art, sewing, and her church. She was very active at the Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, decorated announcement boards, and quilted with a group of women. Lillian also supervised Trinity Lutheran’s “Save-n-Share” store, a second-hand store who provided clothes to townspeople in need and sold used clothing for donations to the Church. In 1990, Lillian moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to help care for her grandson, Alec. When Linda and Stan Hubble (Linda’s late husband) moved to Dallas, Texas, Lillian moved with them. She helped welcome Joe to the Hubble family in 1997. When Stan passed away unexpectedly in 2002, she helped Lin raise the two boys. In 2005, Linda married David Ku and added three more boys to Lillian’s family. Lillian lived with David and Linda and the five boys until April of 2015 when she fell. She passed away in her sleep a few days after her 100th birthday at a rehabilitation facility in Dallas on May 28, 2015. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Marion M. Anderson, and her son-in-law Stan Hubble. Survivors include: daughter, Linda; grandsons Alec and Joe; son-in-law Dr. David M. Ku; and three step-grandchildren Alexander, Christopher, and Jonathan. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Tim Leaf officiating.
