Cheryl Ann Evans-Parks

On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, Cheryl “Ann” Evans-Parks, loving wife and friend, passed from this life at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas, at age 65. Ann was born February 3, 1957, to Charles “Harold” and Shirley Ann (Mann) Evans in Atwood, Kansas. She attended school in Atwood, graduating from Atwood High School in 1975. She worked at the Norton State Hospital in Norton, Kansas, while earning her Mental Health Technician Certification. Ann later earned an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from Colby Community College, Colby, Kansas. True love from the start, Ann was united in marriage to Gary Lee Parks on March 11, 1988. The couple made their home in the country near Buhler, Kansas most of their married lives. Together they were one; apart they are one. Ann had a passion for people and realized early in life that her calling was helping others. She was a kind and compassionate person with a loving soul who worked as a caregiver for many years. She loved tending her patients and was available to them day or night, no matter the need or circumstance. Family was of utmost importance to Ann and her family’s health and happiness always came before her own wants and desires. She touched many lives during her lifetime and will be sorely missed by those she’s left behind. Ann had a penchant for animals; she loved her pets! There was always a dog at her feet -- or two or three -- begging for Ann’s attention and a treat – or two or three. When the cats settled on her lap for their afternoon hiatus, she would not move for fear of disturbing their slumber. There were never enough pets around Ann as far as she was concerned. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Shirley; her brother, Charles Harold “Chuck” Evans, Jr., and her father-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Parks. She is survived by her husband, Gary, of Buhler, Kansas; mother-in-law, Lucille Kreps of Goodyear, AZ; sisters-in-law, Linda Miletich (Mike) of Goodyear, AZ, and Shelia Parks, of Erie, CO; her nieces, Theresa Evans of Brooklyn, New York, Sheena Talmadge (Caleb and Brooke) of Erie, CO, Hayley Marshall of Erie, CO, and Brandi (Kevin, Kaelyn, Ryan) Minick, Goodyear, AZ; nephew, David (Rebecca, Aaron, Ali, Kieran) Bechtel of Flagstaff, AZ; her loyal chocolate lab, Gypsy; and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be made in Ann’s name to National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the ASPCA, or American Rivers c/o Buhler Mortuary, P. O. Box 589, Buhler, Kansas 67522. A service is planned with family greeting friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Buhler Mortuary, 120 N Main St, Buhler. Family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at Atwood United Methodist Church, 200 N 4th Street, Atwood, Kansas.
