Raymond W. Klatt

Raymond William Klatt, 82, went to eternal joy with Jesus Christ his savior on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Herman and Martha (Windler) Klatt. He attended school at Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School in rural Canton, Kansas and graduated from Canton High School. He served his country in Korea for two years in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Hesston Corporation in the rework department and retired from there after many years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed farming and continued with that until 2010. On June 7, 1953, Raymond was united in marriage to Laura Jane Pauls in Inman, Kansas. They were blessed with one son, Bill and two daughters, Kristi and Cheryl. Laura preceded in death on August 24, 1991. He then married Susie Decker on July 11, 1992 in Canton and she died on February 26, 2005. On May 12, 2012, he married Carlene Rosen at Canton. Raymond loved to sit at his kitchen table watching the news and reading the newspaper. Some of his favorite programs were the Lawrence Welk Show, Jackie Gleason comedies, I Love Lucy and at the top of the list, Wheel of Fortune. His favorite pasttimes were feeding the birds and taking care of his cats. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Canton American Legion Post #192. Survivors include his wife Carlene; one sons, Bill Klatt and his wife, Brenda of McPherson, Kansas; two daughters, Kristi Morgan and her husband, Richard of Moundridge, Kansas and Cheryl Ann Ayer and husband, Boyd, Wichita, Kansas; six step-children; five grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvon and Howard, a sister, Shirley Ann and a step-daughter. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Canton. Interment will be in McPherson Cemetery with Ft. Riley Honor Guard assisting in committal services. Friends may call Friday evening, May 9, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Olson's Mortuary, Canton. A memorial has been established with the McPherson County Humane Society, in care of the mortuary.
