Randy C. Dalke

The world has lost a good one. Husband, brother, dad, grandpa. Breakfast maker. Those who knew Randy, even just a little, lost a best friend and a shining light in their lives. To quote nieces and nephews, “He always made you feel like he was genuinely interested in how you were doing, and what was happening in their life”. Born May 6, 1946, in Newton, KS, to Melvin and Esther (Delphon) Dalke. Randy’s early years of life were spent in Moundridge, KS. Playing those tie breaking football games with his brother Greg and friends in their front yard. While tearing up their dads freshly manicured lawn. He went on to graduate from Wichita State University, and proudly served in the US Marine Corp Reserve Unit. A job brought him to Colorado where he met his wife Shawn, and they were married on July 14, 1990. A time of great joy for both was the hunting and skiing trips they went on with family and friends in Colorado, and to Kansas and South Dakota. When his wife Shawn got a bird, Randy would jokingly say to her, “That was a peach Hon”. While driving up the Colorado Rockies to go skiing, no sooner when one of his favorite songs All I want to do is Have Some Fun by Sheryl Crow would start playing, Randy started tapping his hand on the steering wheel, singing away, with some head bopping added in. As an avid golfer he loved nothing more than being in the two-some who won what he and his buddies called “epic” PGA Tournament golf games. They got to watch and celebrate with Randy when he made a Hole-in-One. Randy was blessed with two children, Mike and Michelle, and five grandchildren, Tripp, Madeline, Isabelle, Ben and Allison. He worked in the insurance industry for 30+ years before retiring. Preceding him in death were his father, Melvin, mother, Esther, uncles, Allen Dalke, Robert (Margie) Dalke, Alpha Delphon, aunts, May (Delphon), Agnus (Delphon), and Betsy (Delphon), sister-in-law Pat Dalke, and Cousin Tasha. He is survived by his wife Shawn, brother Greg Dalke and wife Susan, his son, Mike Dalke and wife Jennifer, daughter Michelle (Babin) husband Larry, 5 grandchildren, Tripp, Madeline, Isabelle, Ben, and Allison, Aunt Yvonne Dalke, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, Kansas. Randy will be laid to rest at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Cure PSP or the Kansas and Colorado chapters of Pheasants Forever in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, KS 67107.
