Marvin "Sieg" Stucky

Moundridge - Marvin "Sieg" Stucky, 92, was born in Galva, KS, to Siegfried and Edna (Graber) Stucky on July 25, 1925 and died on March 28, 2018 at Pine Village, Moundridge.He graduated from Prairie View grade school in 1939 and from Moundridge High School in 1943. He was baptized on June 1, 1941 and was a faithful member of Eden Mennonite Church all his life.The Elyria Service Station was where he spent most of his life, taking off a year and a half to go to Forest Hill, CA, Civilian Public Service Camp and then to Lincoln, NE, returning home for Christmas in 1946. After the Mid KS-Coop bought the Elyria Station, he worked for them for 35 years.On June 13, 1948, he married Marjorie Goering. They lived in Elyria for 38 years. After one year of volunteer work at AMBS, they built a duplex and moved to Moundridge Memorial Home, later moved to Krehbiel Apartments.They had four children, Marvetta was the oldest and then they had three boys, Murray, Max and Morris, nine grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.Marvin loved sports and played basketball in high school and baseball, softball, and slow pitch for many years.Woodworking was his hobby and every year he made toys and other gifts for the children. Fishing was a great past time and many vacations were spent at the lake. Other vacations were taken by traveling to nearly every state in the union, some by car, some in an RV, and also some bus trips.He was loved by all and was always friendly – even till the end.Survivors include: his sisters, Mabel Goering and Tillie Zerger; his family, Marvetta (Shelly) Sperling, Andy (Jackie), Kate and Evan Sperling; Micah (Stephanie) Jacob and Hailey Sperling; Murray (Melody) and Michael Stucky; Max (Lynda), Ben (Madeleine), Abe and Sam Stucky; Morris (Diana) Grant and Hope Stucky, and many relatives and friends. Family members that preceded him in death were his parents, a baby brother, Merle, and a granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Stucky, and two brothers-in-law, Reuben Goering, and Eldon Zerger.Graveside service will be a 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Eden Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Pine Village in care of Moundridge Funeral Home.
