Dorothy June BryanDorothy June Bryan, 89, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018, at her home in Kansas City, Kansas.Dorothy was born on July 30, 1928, in Arriba, Colorado, the daughter of Marvin and Nellie Wagner. Dorothy spent her early years living in Colorado and Oklahoma and moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1941. She moved to Assaria, Kansas, in 1946 where she graduated in 1947.She married Eugene Bryan, Sr. of Canton, Kansas, September 9, 1950 at the Church of the Brethren in McPherson, Kansas. Eugene, Sr. preceded her in death on February 2, 1989.Dorothy lived and raised her family in Canton from 1950 to 1963, at which time she moved to a new farm home on Highway 56 just east of town. She was always busy with local groups, the Methodist Church and with the local Livewire 4-H club with her kids. She stayed on the farm after the passing of her husband but moved back into Canton in 1993. In 2009 she moved to the Kansas City, Kansas, area to live with her son. She was a member of the Canton United Methodist Church. She was very appreciative of the friends she had in Canton and the time she spent in the Senior Center.Dorothy loved sewing and crafting. She spent many, many hours making clothes and items for her family and friends, especially at Christmas time. She recently crocheted more than a hundred red caps that she donated to American Heart Association for hospitalized infants. She also loved to put puzzles together and spent hours and hours concentrating on how the various pieces went together. Dorothy would always have a handmade item ready to share with visitors and family. She is survived by a sister Georgine Harper, Houston, Texas; her son, Eugene Jr. {Peggy) of Kansas City, Kansas; daughters, Marcia Smith (Dave), Hutchinson, Kansas and Scotty Bryan, Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren: Jennifer Konen, Chris Bryan, Kimberly Bryan, Amanda Breer and Jeremy Glass; many great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Olson's Mortuary, Canton. A graveside service will follow at the Canton Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canton Senior Center, in care of the mortuary.
