Dane O. Clark

Dane O'Bryan Clark, 66, of Roxbury, died May 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 4, 1957 in McPherson, to Larry Clark and Rose (McCulle) Clark.In 1975, Dane graduated from Lindsborg High School. He attended and played basketball at Bethany College, Lindsborg and Cloud County Community College, Concordia where he met his wife, Phyllis Nord. They were married November 19, 1977 in Marysville, Kansas. They were blessed with a daughter Betsey Elaine and son Brendon O'Bryan. To all around Roxbury he was known as Danny. Dane started helping area farmers by age 12 and started working summers at the local Roxbury Elevator by 16. He spent many days riding horses with his older brother Justin and friend Jim Crowther. They managed to survive many adventures. Dane helped his grandfather break horses for riding and doing daily chores. Dane enjoyed sports throughout his years. He played football, basketball and track receiving awards and medals. Dane loved watching basketball, from his kid’s games to KU games. Dane started his farming operation with raising hogs and changed over to Rambouillet sheep. With friends and gaining more friends, he showed his Rambouillet sheep throughout the states and winning Grand Champion Ram/Ewe at several state fairs. As a youth, he went with a neighbor, Bill Craig, to many bird swap meets. He enjoyed raising birds and had currently, Call Ducks, Welsh Harlequin, Sebastipol Geese, different breeds of Chickens, Pigeons, and Peacocks. Dane enjoyed going with neighbor, Gary Krier, to buy and sell birds at area Consignment Auctions. Dane farmed his own ground and rented ground as well. He took pride in his gentle Simmental/Black Baldies herd.Dane was a Board Member for DS&O Electric Cooperative, Inc. He loved the challenge of learning new processes and producers in being a board member. His greatest joy was having grand-kids Elijah, Isaiah, Esther, Faith, Noah, Nora, and Killian around to show them farm life and all the animals. He loved spending time with his family and loved to be called Papa. Dane was blessed to have them around his last week.Dane was a member of the Roxbury United Methodist Church and American Rambouillet Association. Preceding him in death was his father and older brother, Justin. Survivors include wife, Phyllis, daughter Betsey (Charlie) Potts, Savannah, MO, son Brendon (Tabatha) Clark, Wichita, sister-in-law Deb (Bill) Harrod, Dallas, OR, seven grandchildren, mother, Rose, and sisters Marce and Karme, Wichita. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Roxbury Valley View Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Memorials have been established with Hospice of Salina or Lada Paws Rescue, Hoisington, in care of the mortuary.
