Christine Rae Hershberger

Christine Rae Hershberger, 63, of Windom, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born February 10, 1958, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Anthony and Evelyn (Strausz) Petrocci. Chris enjoyed plants and gardening. She was a handyman better than most men. She and her husband had Sweetwater Sprouts for over twenty years. She did most of the maintenance. They also hosted dinners and events for almost fifteen years. John cooked and Chris was the perfect hostess. Everybody felt at home because of her. She also was an artist who painted and sculpted bronzes. She has a piece permanently on display in Sheridan, Wyoming and currently has a piece in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota art walk. Over the years, she had many entries at the Kansas State Fair Fine arts and brought home top awards every year. John and her just celebrated 32 years together. She had many friends and an extended family who loved her. She will be greatly missed. Chris is survived by her husband, John Hershberger. She was preceded in death by her parents: Tony and Evelyn Petrocci of Inman. She is survived by her brother, Mick and Maureen of Hesston and their 3 boys: Jeremiah and Tanya with Ashlyn and Ali of Maize, Michael and Erin with Hazen and Knox of Brookville, Lucas and Chayna of Sycamore IL, her brother, Rod and David Hickoff. Chris also claimed her husband’s family as her own. On that side she is survived by her mother-in-law, Martha Hershberger, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Dan and Marla Hershberger; Philip and Diana Hershberger; Faith and Tim Penner; and Beth and Mark Goertz: nieces and nephews: Jana (Andy) Bergman; Julie (Joe) Young; Laura (Brent) Sachs; Micah Hershberger; Saundra Goertz; Alexis Dillon; Ben (Jessica) Hershberger; Jessica Penner; Sam Hershberger; Daniel (Lucy) Penner: and fifteen great-nephews and nieces. Cremation is planned. The Celebration of Life for Chris will be 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 1, 2021 at La Torre in Inman, KS, 158 Chisholm Rd.
