Amanda Marie Neufeld

Amanda Marie (Kroeker) Neufeld, age 87, died on May 23rd, 2017 in Inman Ks. Amanda was born to the late Peter E. & Sara (Wiens) Kroeker on August 11, 1928 at their home near Inman, Ks. Amanda attended the Inman Grade School, Polk Station School in Dallas, Oregon & Zoar Academy completing High School. Amanda married the late John R. Neufeld on October 17th, 1948. They had 4 children. When her family was young, they enjoyed taking summer family vacations. Whether it was to a local lake for the weekend or several weeks in Colorado or Canada. Amanda was always a hard worker. She worked as a telephone operator in the Inman Telephone Office before her marriage. During her marriage, she worked as Head Cook at Central Christian High School, Head Cook at Pleasant View Nursing Home, a waitress at the Inman Cafe and sewed bags at Hutchinson Bag Corp. where she retired from. After retiring, John and Amanda bought a RV and spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the warm weather. Amanda enjoyed many years of making quilts and embroidering. She made embroidered block quilts, pieced quilts and crazy quilts. Amanda enjoyed working in the flower and rock gardens that were always to be found on her property. Amanda always enjoyed when she could share her love of cooking and sewing with her family and friends. Amanda spent many years filling shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox, a project of Samaritan's Purse. She would spend most of the year looking for things to put in the boxes she made. She always included something she sewed such as a doll blanket or bags. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Mennonite Church at Inman, Ks. And in her early adult years, she taught many Sunday morning Bible School Classes and Wednesday Night Bible Studies, always with the children. She leaves behind to cherish precious memories: daughter, Carolyn Buhler of Inman, Ks.; son, Leland Neufeld and wife Jolene of Chandler, Az.; daughter, Betty Hamm of Hutchinson, Ks.; daughter, Faye Grounds of Hutchinson, Ks.; Grandson Tim Buhler & his wife, Nicole of Wichita, KS.; Grand-daughter Tammy Galloway & husband Scott of Inman, KS.; Grandson Jason Herron & his wife, Lacey of Hutchinson, KS.; Grandson Chris Grounds & his wife, Sherinda of Hutchinson, KS.; Grand-daughter Christin Grounds of Hutchinson, KS.; 16 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Ella Regier of Newton, Ks.; brother Eldo Kroeker of Inman, Ks. and brother John Kroeker and wife Donna of Inman, Ks. A Memorial Service was held at 10:00 a.m. on May 27th, 2017 at Bethel Mennonite Church, 256 8th Avenue, Inman, Kansas. Grandson Pastor Tim Buhler and Pastor Bob Dalke presided. Amanda was cremated and her ashes were buried in a private gravesite service at the North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Ks. Amanda’s Family is requesting, that in lieu of flowers, a monetary donation is made to a Memorial fund that has been set up. The fund will be for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox, a project of Samaritan's Purse, which she had done for many years. They may be sent to: Buhler Mortuary, 120 N. Main St., Buhler, Ks. 67522.
