Gena Sue Steffes

Gena Sue Steffes, 55, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 while in the company of family members, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas. Gena was born in McPherson, Kansas on July 28, 1957, the daughter of Barbara Lou (Gayer) Eberle, and Robert 'Bob' Eberle.Gena attended the Washington and Lincoln Grade Schools, Park School, McPherson Junior High School and graduated McPherson High School, in 1975, all of McPherson. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas and University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University.She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, Kansas where she was a member of the Altar Society. Gena was a homemaker and worked for Sterling Drug and later for Mainly Frames in McPherson and was currently working for U.S.D 418 as a Para Professional. Gena was a member of the Turkey Creek Ladies Golf Association. Gena Sue Eberle was united in marriage to Steve W. Steffes on June 28, 1980 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas. Surviving family members include her husband Steve Steffes, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Tyler Steffes, of Topeka, Kansas and Jackie S. Lima and her husband Carlos, of Kansas City, Missouri; her mother Barbara Eberle, of McPherson, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends. Gena was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Eberle; her sister, Susan Rene Eberle, and her brother, Brad Scott. Eberle.Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27th, with Fr. Hien Nguyen officiating. The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
